Competitive Swimming Instructor

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Swim Team Coach to lead our competitive and recreational swimming programs. As a key member of our aquatic team, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the development of our swim team, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for our athletes.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement training plans and strategies to enhance team performance and athlete development.
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of coaches and instructors to support the swim program.
- Manage team logistics, including meet scheduling, transportation, and volunteer coordination.
- Communicate effectively with parents, athletes, and staff to ensure a positive and supportive team culture.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of athlete progress, achievements, and safety incidents.
- Collaborate with the Aquatic Director to align program goals and objectives with the YMCA's mission and strategic plan.
- Represent the YMCA at local and regional swim meets, promoting our programs and values.
- Minimum 2-3 years of coaching experience in competitive swimming, with a strong background in training and stroke development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with athletes, parents, and staff.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
- YMCA Team Leader certification and Swim Instructor certification preferred.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, including a criminal record check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record check.
The Swim Team Coach will work in a fast-paced aquatic environment, with frequent exposure to wet or humid conditions and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk and hear.
