Job Summary

Under the direction of the Technical Supervisor - CT/MRI, this MRI Technologist is responsible for ensuring patient comfort and safety during Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of MRI technology and be able to prepare and position patients for optimal imaging results. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview patients, obtain medical history, and explain examination procedures
  • Prepare MRI rooms for patient examinations, ensuring all necessary equipment is available and functioning properly
  • Assess and prepare patients for MRI procedures, taking into account any medical conditions or concerns
  • Perform MRI procedures according to established protocols, using knowledge of anatomical positioning and physiology to produce high-quality images
  • Position and transfer patients on/off the scanning table, using immobilization devices to maintain patient comfort
  • Complete necessary documentation, including log books, worksheets, and screening forms
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited training program in Radiologic Technology or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Certified/Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT)
  • Active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Ability to travel to Cook County Health (CCH) work sites to perform procedures
Preferred Qualifications
  • State License by Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
  • One (1) year of experience as an MRI Technologist
  • ARRT certification in Radiology (ARRT)(R)
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
