Visual Merchandising Lead

We are seeking an experienced Visual Merchandising Lead to join our team at Free People. In this key role, you will play a vital part in creating an inspiring and dynamic visual experience for our customers.
About the RoleThe Visual Merchandising Lead is responsible for supporting the selling, service, and operations of the store with an emphasis on merchandising and display. You will work collaboratively with the store team to enhance the customer experience through personalized service, product recommendations, and connecting with customers in an authentic way.
Key Responsibilities:- Brand Experience: Act as a brand ambassador and reflect the company values; partner with the leadership team to create an engaging visual experience that appeals to the FP customer
- Sales and Visual Initiatives: Involve the entire team in selling and visual initiatives that enhance the customer experience; encourage employees to build lasting relationships through personalized service and product recommendations
- Store Environment: Take a forward-thinking approach to the customer experience through in-store marketing, merchandising, display, and outfitting to create a compelling store environment
- Training and Development: Train the team on store processes, merchandise placement, and standards; provide timely and specific employee feedback to create a culture of action and accountability
- Zone and Visual Support: Participate as the manager-on-duty by driving engagement in each zone through communication, adaptability, and fostering a collaborative selling environment; exhibit strong decision-making and multi-tasking capabilities
- Recruitment and Onboarding: Support the Store Manager in recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent to build bench for the store; facilitate thoughtful onboarding for all new hires to drive a strong brand, customer, and store connection
- Daily Operating Processes: Take an active role in daily operating processes through payroll management and adapting the zone and visual support to the needs of the business
- Visual Direction: Manage the visual direction from planning through execution to meet company expectations, budgets, and timeline; utilize reporting tools to identify business opportunities with product placement, outfitting, and stock levels
- Shipments and Omni Process: Drive an effective shipment and omni process to prioritize getting product to the customer; take a forward-thinking approach to make a strategic plan for execution and recovery of sell-through and markdowns
- Inventory Management: Adhere to store safety standards, inventory accuracy, reduction of product loss, and uphold all company policy and procedures to support the profitability of the store
- Inclusive Leadership: Lead with an inclusive and people-first philosophy; engage employees at all levels to encourage open dialogue, reinforce follow-through, and ensure that the store team is heard and supported
- Interoffice Communication: Current and respond to interoffice communication while ensuring important company information reaches all levels of the team; facilitate the sharing of product knowledge, current trends, visual priorities, and brand messaging through daily meetings with the team
- Product and Visual Feedback: Provide global product and visual feedback to the Store Manager and District Manager; submit store environment photos to highlight merchandising and display updates
- Culture of Strong Communication: Foster a culture of strong communication and teamwork to ensure a balance of operational and visual priorities and to facilitate problem-solving
- A love for the FP brand
- 1+ years of store visual merchandising and leadership experience
- Experience being a team player
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the store, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the organization
