The Control Systems Engineer is tasked with the comprehensive development, management, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of diverse operational networks, historian servers, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and web services. Key responsibilities encompass network monitoring, performance evaluation, standard development, and internal customer support, alongside fault management and resolution. The engineer will collaborate with plant teams, internal stakeholders, and contractors to fulfill these objectives.
PLC Programming and Troubleshooting for Industrial Equipment
Key Responsibilities:
- Support North American Operations by providing programming, design, and troubleshooting expertise for network systems, enhancing performance in network infrastructure, firewalls, data networks, HMIs, historian servers, and PLC operations.
- Assist fellow Control Systems Engineers in troubleshooting and programming PLCs, particularly focusing on Rockwell ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and Wonderware systems.
- Act as the primary contact for any failures related to operational networks and computer systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Wonderware Operator Station systems, including InTouch and Historian.
- Oversee the maintenance and improvement of process data storage and associated client users.
- Enhance and troubleshoot web services related to process data, including downtime tracking and operator portals.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including standards, configurations, and network diagrams.
- Contribute to the development of new control systems and cloud infrastructure for advanced process controls.
- Ensure regular backups of all critical data, systems, and programs.
- Maintain existing control workstations and configure new workstations as necessary.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to design and optimize control systems, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards while enhancing productivity and quality.
- Generate, review, and approve project control programs and specifications.
- Coordinate internal and external resources assigned to projects.
- Oversee the commissioning of electrical and automation networking systems, ensuring vendor compliance with project scope and documentation.
- Meet user expectations by focusing on functional effectiveness, reliability, and ease of maintenance.
- Interface with equipment and system integration vendors to expedite documentation and deliveries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; or an Associate's degree in engineering with relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical instrumentation and implementation, preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- At least 5 years of PLC programming experience in an industrial setting.
- Certifications such as CCST or CAP are highly regarded.
- Preferred certifications include Network, Security, Microsoft, and Cisco.
- Proficient in process control instrumentation, network protocols, web services, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with various man-machine interface programs, particularly Aveva Intouch.
- Experience with RSLogix programming and software, as well as programming languages such as Python, R, C, C++, and Java.
