Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Inspector plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the production process by ensuring that all manufactured components and assemblies adhere to the established quality benchmarks. This involves a thorough examination of parts against engineering specifications and identifying any defects or deviations. The inspector will also evaluate incoming materials and products to verify compliance with purchase agreements and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary Focus (80%): Mechanical Inspection
    Conduct detailed inspections of parts produced by the machine shop, including:
    • Performing Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) inspections on castings, forgings, machined components, and sheet metal assemblies.
    • Assessing machined parts for material quality, process completion, and adherence to engineering drawings.
    • Interpreting engineering specifications and executing precise mathematical calculations.
    • Utilizing standard inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators for visual inspections.
    • Applying knowledge of geometric features in blueprints to evaluate roundness, flatness, and other critical dimensions.
    • Employing advanced inspection technologies, including the Keyence Optical Comparator, to create programs for new parts.
    • Documenting inspection results and ensuring the accuracy of production records.
    • Conducting first article inspections and making acceptance or rejection decisions.
    • Inspecting functional gauges and tooling for compliance with specifications.
    • Preparing and maintaining comprehensive inspection reports.
  • Secondary Focus (20%): Incoming Material Inspection
    Evaluate raw materials and products upon receipt, including:
    • Inspecting incoming items for compliance with purchase orders and engineering standards.
    • Reporting any discrepancies to the relevant personnel.
    • Collaborating with Quality Engineers to address and resolve issues.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assisting fellow inspectors as needed.
  • Performing related tasks that require similar skills.
  • Maintaining a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Working independently while adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Documenting non-conformances in Discrepancy Reports.
  • Upholding high quality standards with minimal defects.
  • Completing other tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with aerospace standards such as AS9100 and AS9102.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong understanding of computer operations and sampling methodologies.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Capability to maintain quality in accordance with company specifications.
  • Experience with Windows and MS Office applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with CMM and programming in PCDMIS is advantageous.
  • Ability to program the Keyence optical comparator is a plus.
  • Required to work to precise tolerances.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong time management and adaptability skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
  • Independent problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional demeanor and teamwork orientation.

Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of hands-on inspection experience in precision machining within aerospace, medical, or automotive sectors.

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
