Position: Culinary Leader
Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 annually

The Culinary Leader is responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including procurement, food preparation, and maintaining high standards of quality, sanitation, and cleanliness. This role involves training staff in cooking techniques, presentation, portion control, and health regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure consistent preparation and presentation of food in accordance with the restaurant's established recipes and standards.
  • Master all cooking stations and support team members during peak service times.
  • Organize and complete all necessary paperwork, including reports and schedules, in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of kitchen equipment through regular inspections and adherence to maintenance protocols.
  • Order products based on predetermined specifications and ensure correct delivery and storage procedures are followed.
  • Manage food costs and usage by adhering to requisition procedures, storage guidelines, and waste management practices.
  • Implement and uphold cleaning schedules for all kitchen areas and equipment.
  • Monitor food holding and refrigeration temperatures to ensure safety and quality.
  • Track kitchen-related financial metrics, including cost of goods, labor percentages, and inventory levels.
  • Provide orientation on company policies and oversee the training of new kitchen staff.
  • Participate in hiring, evaluating, and, when necessary, terminating kitchen personnel.
  • Schedule staff according to anticipated business needs while meeting labor cost objectives.
  • Administer corrective actions for policy violations in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Train kitchen staff on the safe operation of kitchen equipment and sanitation practices.
  • Step in as needed to maintain service standards and operational efficiency.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating servant leadership and fostering a supportive team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in various kitchen roles, including food preparation and line cooking.
  • At least 6 months of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with management, kitchen staff, and guests.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 20 pounds regularly.
  • Capable of standing and walking for extended periods.
