Collections Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Collections Manager to join our team at the Denison Museum. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the museum's Permanent Collection, which comprises over 8,000 objects from Asia, Europe, and North and Central America.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement long-range plans for the care and stewardship of the Permanent Collection
• Oversee the acquisitions and deaccessioning process, ensuring compliance with museum standards and practices
• Manage the Collections Management System and populate the public interface
• Direct facilities management, risk management, and security procedures
• Generate and process condition reports, deeds of gift, insurance schedules, and loan contracts
• Communicate with donors, manage publication requests, and respond to reference and research inquiries

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Museum Studies or related field, plus at least three years of experience in museum collections management
• Professional experience with object handling, storage, preservation, and documentation of 2-D and 3-D objects
• Experience with museum collections management and data processing systems
• Broad knowledge of museum standards and practices, including accepted registration techniques, preservation principles, and storage practices

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5-7 years of experience in museum collections management
• Experience with acquisitions and deaccessioning fine art and cultural material

Physical Demands:

Climbing ladders, lifting and moving objects up to 50 lbs.
