We are seeking a skilled Pipe Cutter Helper to join our team at Turner Industries. As a Pipe Cutter Helper, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fabrication shop and construction sites.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the measurement and cutting of pipe to specified lengths
- Read and interpret sketches and blueprints to identify material grades and dimensions
- Transfer heat numbers from pipe to sketches as required
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks, such as greasing equipment and inspecting safety guards
- Conduct daily inspections to ensure a safe working environment
- Operate plasma and/or oxyfuel cutting equipment under the guidance of a foreman
- Ability to work a 5 am to 3:30 pm shift
- Preferably 1-2 years of experience in pipe cutting or a related field
- Strong math skills and ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to lay out and cut pipe or willingness to learn
- Capable of working in a team setting
- Pass a post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
As a Pipe Cutter Helper, you will work in an industrial construction site and/or fabrication shop environment. You will be exposed to various noise levels, extreme temperatures, and potential chemical substances.
Physical and Mental Demands- Ability to lift 30-50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, bend, kneel, crouch/squat, and crawl
- Ability to see with or without correction and hear with or without correction
- Ability to follow set procedures and standards, apply basic mathematical skills, and plan work
