We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified School Nurse to join our team at St. Joan of Arc School. As a key member of our student support services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive school health services program, adhering to state and federal regulations, as well as diocesan policies.
- Collaborate with school administrators, physicians, and dentists to plan and organize the school health program.
- Provide direct services to students, using the nursing process to deliver care in accordance with current medical practice and nursing standards.
- Perform and/or oversee mandated screenings, complete referrals, and follow up as necessary.
- Manage and control acute and chronic diseases, carrying out policies and procedures for the control of communicable diseases.
- Provide first aid for illness or injury to students, documenting nursing assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Establish health care plans for students with special health care needs and update them as needed.
- Review and monitor student immunization status, making appropriate referrals for updates when indicated.
- Provide health teaching and counseling, maintaining comprehensive health records on each child.
- Assist in interpreting the health needs of individual children to parents and teachers, and help families access community resources to improve their children's health.
- Administer medications and perform procedures according to physician orders and school district policies.
- Inform teachers of health conditions that may affect behavior, appearance, or scholastic performance.
- Facilitate an organized system of coordinated care for students, collaborating with agencies within and outside the school community.
- Current PA Registered Nurse license
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Certification as Educational Specialist by PA DOE
- CPR/AED certification
- Background/experience preferred in pediatric nursing, community health nursing, critical care nursing, medical-surgical nursing, and/or emergency room nursing
- Knowledge of current Child Abuse Law
- Required Act 48 continuing education coursework for Nursing license and Education Specialist II Certificate
- Required State and Federal clearances
