Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and retrieve patient meal trays and nourishment, advocating for the dietary needs and concerns of each patient.
•Transport meal trays to designated floors, utilizing a standard greeting script for patient interaction.
•Gather feedback and assess service quality regarding food services.
•Ensure patient satisfaction with food services prior to leaving the room.
•Prepare and deliver nourishment at scheduled times.
•Collect soiled trays from assigned areas post-meal service.
•Document patient food preferences and allergies in the dietitian's office records.
•Refer nutrition-related concerns to the clinical dietitian and non-nutrition issues to nursing staff.
•Maintain a comprehensive understanding of menus, food ingredients, and commonly ordered diets. - Communicate important patient-related issues to the incoming shift, and report any concerns affecting patient care and satisfaction to management.
- Adhere to the established dress code for the food service program.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and customers to deliver high-quality service through clear communication and teamwork.
•Engage with patients, families, and hospital staff in a courteous and responsive manner, upholding iRESPECT and Retail Care standards to enhance patient satisfaction.
•Assist colleagues as needed to ensure optimal departmental efficiency.
•Address inquiries and resolve issues related to your responsibilities. - Uphold confidentiality regarding patient and departmental information, complying with all relevant policies (e.g., HIPAA, Confidentiality, and Compliance Policies).
- Maintain accurate departmental records, reports, and files, adhering to established policies and procedures with a focus on compliance, quality improvement, risk management, infection control, and patient safety.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.
•Assist in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies, using resources efficiently.
•Report any equipment malfunctions to your supervisor. - Provide coverage for absences within the department, demonstrating flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Complete all required ongoing training and education, including department-specific requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
- Must be qualified through education, training, or experience to work with diverse patient populations, including school-age children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
- A minimum of six months of experience in institutional food service within a healthcare setting, preferably with therapeutic diet experience, is preferred.
