We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse Triage to join our team at Albany Gastroenterology Consultants, part of the Allied Digestive Health network. Our organization offers top-quality gastroenterology services with over 200 providers and 60 locations throughout New Jersey and New York.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to manage incoming patient calls and appointments. Key responsibilities include coordinating care, handling prior authorizations, notifying patients of results, and providing administrative support to ensure high-quality gastroenterology services. This role requires current NY RN licensure and medical office experience, emphasizing compassionate patient care in a supportive team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.
- Handle all incoming sick patient phone calls for assigned providers, ensuring timely communication and resolution.
- Coordinate office visits, referrals, imaging studies, and lab tests as needed.
- Prioritize authorization requests for medications, imaging studies, and labs.
- Notify patients of test results via secure messaging, email, or phone call.
- Respond promptly to patient portal messages, addressing concerns and queries.
- Accurately log procedures and act on orders, ensuring pathology reports are received.
- Process prescription refills, reviewing charts and scheduling appointments if necessary.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of New York.
- BCLS/ACLS certification preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical office setting.
