Job Summary

We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our team at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. The successful candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and entry-level experience in an acute care hospital setting.

The Occupational Therapist will evaluate, interpret findings, and treat patients with complex behavioral health and/or physical dysfunctions in an acute care setting. The patient population includes a caseload mix of adolescents and adults with complex behavioral health/psychosocial needs.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy, and 1-3 years of experience in Occupational Therapy. Leadership abilities, experience as part of a multidisciplinary medical team, and a commitment to service excellence are also desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and instruct patients in appropriate treatment plans to achieve treatment goals.
  • Participate in divisional quality/process improvement activities and recommend opportunities for improvement in service quality.
  • Attend and participate in educational programs and provide educational experiences as assigned.
  • Demonstrate respect for all members of the University community while performing one's duties and in response to administrators, supervisors, coworkers, and customers.
  • Represent the interests of the University of a Unit Leadership in the use of resources to meet service and productivity demands within unit goals and budgets.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance one's own professional knowledge, skills, and abilities as they relate to one's current position and/or to prepare for potential future roles and overall career development.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
  • Entry-level experience in acute care hospital setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Licenses/ Certifications: Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy.
Desirable Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in Occupational Therapy.
  • Skilled in providing direct patient care within acute care or outpatient settings, with a focus on behavioral health/mental health populations.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrates experience as part of a multidisciplinary medical team.
  • Job-related experience with and/or commitment to service excellence.
