Job Summary

As a Correctional Officer with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals with developmental disabilities in a correctional setting. This position requires a unique blend of correctional expertise, rehabilitation skills, and a commitment to supporting individuals with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities in a correctional setting
  • Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans to promote reintegration into the community
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address behavioral and medical needs
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment through effective crisis management and de-escalation techniques
  • Document and report incidents, progress, and concerns in a timely and accurate manner
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in corrections, rehabilitation, or a related field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
