Job Title: Veterinary Customer Service Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Customer Service Representative to join our team at Animal Urgent Care of South Orange County. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our clients and their pets.

Responsibilities:
  • Receive and respond to telephone and personal callers, ensuring that all client inquiries are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage email communications, responding to client inquiries and saving relevant information for future reference.
  • Follow established hospital policies and procedures to ensure that clients receive the best possible care for their pets.
  • Collect client fees, make change, and assist with counting the cash box.
  • Enter data into our computer system, retrieve and modify stored records as needed.
  • Daily cleaning and sanitation of the clinic lobby, including sweeping, mopping, trash and recycle disposal, disinfecting lobby benches and scale, vacuuming, and dusting.
  • Knowledge of hospital procedures and operating instructions for assembling patient medical records, relaying information regarding patient's condition, and compiling and submitting data on patients treated.
  • Personal contacts with animal owners, visitors, and other staff members, requiring considerable tact and diplomacy.
Requirements:
  • Experience in a veterinary hospital setting is required.
  • Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade or GED.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, client care specialist duties, and telephone techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform clerical work with speed and accuracy, use a multiple-line telephone system, and handle cash and other forms of payment.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • A commitment to outstanding client service.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 40 pounds without assistance and objects weighing more than 40 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stay on task and work energetically for entire shift, sometimes exceeding 10 hours per day.
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures and general computer skills.

  • Several pay differentials apply to this position, including a +$3/hour differential for any shift from Friday to Monday AM at close, and a +$2/hour differential for any hour worked from 10p-8a.
