Job SummaryThis role involves driving a refuse packer truck and recycling vehicle on assigned routes, providing trash and recycling collection services to the community. The incumbent will also assist technicians in collecting recyclables and waste, perform routine maintenance on the vehicle, and respond to questions from the general public.
Key Responsibilities- Drive a refuse packer truck or recycling vehicle on assigned routes, assisting technicians in collecting refuse and recyclables.
- Perform routine maintenance on the vehicle, including checking gas, oil, tires, battery, and packer oil, and reporting any issues to the supervisor.
- May assume lead worker responsibilities, including training new staff members, assigning tasks, and making recommendations for performance appraisals.
- Respond to questions from the general public regarding trash and recycling services.
- Serve as a relief driver for the Right of Way Division during snow and ice response events.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A High School diploma or GED.
- Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
We offer a competitive salary range of $21.48 - $25.30 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes 100% paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee-only coverage, and 80% paid premiums for dependents.
