Overview
Southeastern Louisiana Veterans Health Care System is seeking a part-time Nephrologist to join their team. As a Nephrologist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is $250,000 - $300,000 per year, which includes a competitive pay scale, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increases. In addition to the salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
- 50-55 days of paid time off per year
- Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care
- Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
- CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
- Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
- Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
Job Description
As a Nephrologist, your responsibilities will include:
- Oversight: Clinically supervising the training of Nephrology fellows, residents, and medical students to provide quality patient-centered patient care in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Examinations: Evaluating patients by examining thoroughly and determining care the patient is provided.
- Diagnosis: Ability to interpret and evaluate clinical data for the purpose of determining diagnosis and clinical status.
- Treatment: Prescribes appropriate and timely treatment; applies indicated therapeutic procedures.
- Patient Management: Develops and maintains rapport and gains the confidence of patients and relatives through competence and interpersonal skills.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed below:
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Experience
Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Nephrology is highly preferred.
