Position Overview: The primary role of the Nursing Educator is to provide instruction across various levels of service, clinical practice, professional growth, and academic scholarship that align with the faculty rank.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To instruct nursing courses, a master's or doctoral degree in nursing is essential. For non-nursing courses, a master's or doctoral degree in a relevant field is required. A doctoral degree is mandatory for the ranks of academic associate professor, academic professor, and clinical professor.
2. A minimum of two years of clinical experience in the nursing field is required.
3. Preference will be given to candidates with two years of teaching experience.
4. A current license to practice as a registered nurse or in the relevant field in the Commonwealth of VA is necessary.
5. Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Word, instructional technology, and clinical practice, is required.
6. Certification in a specific area of clinical expertise or as a nurse educator is preferred.
