Job Summary:

HealthPartners is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform various tests in the medical laboratory, exercising independent judgment in dealing with procedural, technical, and customer service issues.
  • Promote a positive and engaged environment among laboratory team members.
  • Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for analysis as needed or assigned, ensuring a high level of quality is maintained.
  • Operate computer functions, including test requisition, test resulting, and quality documentation, according to standard protocols.
  • Perform high-complexity laboratory testing according to protocol, evaluating specimens for integrity and accurate labeling, and patient results for reasonableness.
  • Maintain instruments, perform calibration and troubleshooting as scheduled or needed, and ensure appropriate documentation.
  • Participate in annual technical competency programs, including direct observations, and proficiency testing in all areas of competence.
  • Assist in training new employees, students, and other laboratory personnel as needed.
  • Participate in committees and teams as assigned, actively engaging in meetings and completing tasks or assignments.
  • Engage in continuing education and professional development to stay current with industry advancements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, required.
  • ASCP certification required; must complete within the first 6 months of employment or moving into the position.
  • Proof of education in the form of diploma or transcripts that document degree.
  • Experience and skills in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and blood bank, required.
  • Manual dexterity, accuracy, and precision, required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, required.
  • Competent computer skills to navigate within a laboratory information system, required.
