Middle School Special Education Teacher, East Bay Region

West Bay Collaborative is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to support a small group of students with social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs in the East Bay Region.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with classroom and subject area teachers to provide instruction to students using the Common Core State Standards.
- Develop and chair Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
- Progress monitor IEPs quarterly and provide feedback to sending districts and parents/guardians.
- Attend intake meetings and amend IEPs to reflect the Upper School program.
- Work with Career Specialists to align transition goals with student interest and ability.
- Collaborate with School Social Workers/teachers weekly to discuss student needs and accommodations both behaviorally and academically.
- Certification from the Rhode Island Department of Education in Middle/Secondary Special Education, dual certification preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with multiple teaching techniques and methods to modify classroom instruction to meet students' needs.
- Relevant work experience and effectiveness with a population that exhibits challenging behaviors.
- Knowledge and understanding of health, safety, and emergency procedures in a school environment.
- Training and competency in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or ability to successfully complete training upon hire.
