Sheetmetal Instructor

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a highly organized and self-motivated Sheetmetal Instructor to support the training needs of our organization. This role will report to the Chief of Operations Training / Training Supervisor and play a critical part in the training and qualification of students requiring initial and refresher training at Quonset Point.

• Instruct multiple courses in sheetmetal and other related topics, including fall protection, respirator, and tank watch.
• Direct and assess hands-on training with mockups and related exercises.
• Enforce safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits.
• Assess student performance and identify nonconformance to policies, procedures, and technical documents.
• Support various course content reviews and related activities.
• Conduct assessments as scheduled.
• Meet with HR Business Partners regarding student performance as needed.
• Grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics.
• Communicate with other Training shifts to advance work and communicate issues.
• Support special training projects as required.

• Possess a High school diploma (minimum).
• Have a minimum of 2 years of sheetmetal experience.
• Have a minimum of 2 years of Electric Boat experience.
• Must be able to climb a ladder and don a Safety Harness as required.
• Must be able to travel throughout the facility to facilitate training as required.
• Must possess the ability to work additional overtime as directed (including weekends).

• Prior experience teaching.
• Nuclear trade experience.
• Associates Degree.

• Ability to problem solve.
• Strong ability to lead and direct in a classroom environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to customer-service, safety & procedure compliance.
• Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed.
