Role: School-Based Communication Specialist
Speech Language Pathologist
Employment Type: Full-time (7 hours/day; Typical case load 40) or part-time options available.
Compensation: $62/hour
Work Location: Designated by management staff, with potential for remote work as necessary.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the management of Related Services and Special Education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively engage with students, families, educational leaders, and supervisory personnel through both verbal and written communication.
- Provide expert consultation to educational staff and families regarding speech and language development and its relevance to the educational curriculum.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and deliver direct/indirect therapeutic services to children aged 0-21 years.
- Exhibit proficiency in utilizing both formal and informal assessment methodologies.
- Identify students who qualify for speech and language services based on individual requirements and established criteria.
- Prepare clear and concise oral and written reports adhering to recommended formats and timelines (e.g., assessment reports, progress updates).
- Develop and execute tailored goals for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), and Service Plans that align with students' documented needs.
- Implement evidence-based intervention strategies, differentiated instructional methods, and assistive technologies to cater to diverse learning styles.
- Maintain precise records of speech-language services and therapy logs, documenting student progress accurately.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of third-party billing.
- Engage in continuous professional development relevant to the field.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP-CCC).
- Possession of a valid Speech-Language Pathology License from the relevant health department.
- Personal laptop required (not provided).
- Familiarity with and adherence to the district's acceptable use policy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of speech-language pathology principles and practices.
- Familiarity with special education principles and practices.
- Knowledge of assistive technology applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster effective working relationships.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, database management, spreadsheet, and email software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Work Environment:
This role is typically performed in educational, community, and office settings. Responsibilities include operating office equipment, including personal computers and assistive technology, with occasional physical activities. Independent travel to various locations may be required.
