Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Job Specialty: Clinical - Allied - Travel

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Days - 7 AM to 4 PM

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience: 1 year as a licensed Occupational Therapist in a clinical care setting or home health preferred

License: Licensed by the Examining Committee to practice Occupational Therapy in the state; Compact License acceptable if working in a state part of the OT Compact agreement

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA or ARC required

Must-Have:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy
  • Must maintain a current state driver's license and auto insurance
  • Personal vehicles must be well maintained and in safe driving condition

Job Description:

  • Provide direct patient care and supervision of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) in accordance with an established plan of care.
  • Coordinate care with the assigned multidisciplinary team and act as the patient's liaison with other healthcare providers.
  • Ensure appropriate, qualified, and timely patient care and documentation to meet patient needs and agency goals.
  • Direct, supervise, evaluate, and provide occupational therapy services to patients in their homes.
  • Plan and conduct programs to restore function with activities of daily living, prevent disability, and help patients reach their maximum level of independence.
  • May act as a case manager for postacute services and supervise home health aides.
  • Evaluate patients' functional abilities and develop a plan of care with the physician.
  • Design and fit patients with orthotic devices and adaptive equipment, and instruct them in appropriate therapy methods.
  • Observe and report any reactions to treatment or changes in the patient's condition to the physician.
  • Maintain communication with the multidisciplinary team regarding schedule updates, patient data, and physician orders.
  • Incorporate short and longterm goals established in the plan of care into therapy.
