Key Responsibilities

Role Summary:

The Certified Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in supporting patient care within the surgical environment and collaborates effectively as part of the healthcare team.

  • The Certified Surgical Technologist ensures optimal patient care by adhering to established standards within Surgical Services.
  • This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of recent full-time experience in an acute care setting as a certified surgical technologist.
  • Consideration may be given to experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center with similar acuity and complexity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program, including certification.
  • Completion of Surgical Technology training with 15 units of continuing education annually as mandated by the NBSTSA.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist through the NBSTSA is required.
  • Employees in this role prior to a specified date may be exempt from certain certification requirements.
  • Quarterly competency certification in Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is required post-hire.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • One year of recent full-time experience in an acute care environment as a certified surgical technologist, including trauma and open-heart experience.
  • Preferred certification through the NBSTSA, with potential grandfathering in compliance with applicable statutes.
