Position Overview

The Electrical and Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role within our team. This position is responsible for safely executing maintenance tasks to construct, repair, and maintain all equipment in optimal working condition while minimizing associated costs to achieve plant objectives. Our Maintenance Team is skilled in various trades and contributes to plant maintenance activities across multiple disciplines. This role reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute projects with minimal supervision, demonstrating a proactive approach to reducing equipment downtime and enhancing production efficiency.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues in operational devices. Disassemble and inspect devices to access and replace faulty components.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow technicians and production personnel both verbally and in writing.
  • Set up and operate shop machinery including drill presses, grinders, band saws, cutting torches, and welders. Utilize hand and pneumatic tools for modifications or repairs.
  • Install, repair, or modify electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as required.
  • Work towards improving the reliability and uptime of all machinery.
  • Operate forklifts and aerial lift platforms as necessary.
  • Research and procure supplies, parts, and tools essential for completing work orders efficiently.
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of parts through effective use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Contribute to the upkeep and organization of required documentation including maintenance logs, manuals, and PM records.
  • Support the company’s vision, mission, and guiding principles.
  • Adhere to all applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations while performing job duties.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the department.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Windows.
  • Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and blueprints for planning and troubleshooting.
  • Mathematical skills for performing basic calculations involving weight, volume, and distance.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and reasoning skills.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a variety of hand tools and machinery.
  • Experience in industrial electrical work, including familiarity with 3-phase motors and voltages up to 480v.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or a related field; or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent.

Certifications:

  • Specific craft certifications or licenses are a plus.
  • Technical education is advantageous.
