Role Overview

We are in search of a skilled Electrical or MEP Estimator who can effectively achieve client goals through proficient cost management services.

The Electrical Estimator will be tasked with generating electrical estimates and providing cost consulting for a range of projects, including commercial, data centers, industrial facilities, and high-tech buildings.

While experience in electrical construction estimating is essential, familiarity with Mechanical and Plumbing Estimating (MEP) is also beneficial.

  • Develop and present comprehensive cost plans and estimates.
  • Estimate costs at various stages, including conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
  • Assist in feasibility assessments and the preparation of procurement documentation.
  • Oversee procurement processes, including pre-qualification, bid list creation, bid analysis, and contract documentation.
  • Engage in post-contract cost variance management and change control processes, escalating significant changes as necessary.
  • Conduct cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Generate monthly post-contract cost reports for client presentation.
  • Contribute to value engineering efforts and negotiate final accounts.
  • Maintain communication with clients and other consultants throughout all project phases.
  • Provide leadership to the cost management team as required, ensuring accountability for all deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for business development with existing clients and report these to the appropriate manager.
  • Suggest enhancements for cost management procedures, templates, and tools to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical background in all aspects of cost management, including pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCad Navisworks, and related software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively.
  • Comprehensive understanding of various construction procurement methods.
  • Experience advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
  • Familiarity with key business development components.
  • Diverse knowledge and experience across multiple industry sectors.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management with a Technical Focus, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in commercial, data center, high-tech, mission-critical, or similar construction projects of medium to high complexity.
  • Demonstrated ability in preparing large-scale electrical cost estimates.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems as they pertain to construction projects.
