Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at North Country Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining a safe and sterile environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the surgical environment, including setting up sterile tables, instruments, and supplies.
  • Anticipate the surgeon's needs and provide necessary instruments, sutures, and supplies during procedures.
  • Assist in the transportation and transfer of patients to and from the operating room, as well as to and from the post-anesthesia care unit.
  • Participate in the preparation, positioning, and draping of patients and the operative area.
  • Maintain the sterile field and ensure that all necessary counts are performed according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Assist with cast applications and dressings after procedures.
  • Remove sharps from the field, remove instruments for cleaning, and discard disposable drapes and supplies in the proper containers.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and attend meetings and in-services as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Operating Room Technician program or equivalent.
  • Candidates must have healthcare certification or a healthcare degree, or a valid LPN license.
  • BLS certification.
Working Conditions

This position requires manual dexterity, good or corrected vision and hearing, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. You will be working in a fast-paced environment with various types of clinical equipment and computer systems. You may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases, and regular exposure to the risk of blood-borne diseases.

Training and Development

North Country Hospital is willing to train the right candidate with no experience for this position. There may be the potential for traveling to a teaching facility to receive training.
