Topographic Mapping Specialist

Oceaneering International seeks a skilled Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst to partner on a large contract for the DoD. The successful candidate will have experience in managing and leveraging GIS resources to create maps and graphic reports, with a strong background in data collection, handling, and analysis. This role requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
The selected candidate will work closely with other members of the GIS team to manage projects, maintain knowledge of GIS-related software solutions, and analyze data to present visualizations. Success in this role will be demonstrated by providing support and expertise in developing Oceaneering's GIS capabilities to meet strategic objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to a dynamic team and gain valuable experience in the field of GIS and cartography. The selected candidate will have the chance to work on a variety of projects, from managing and enhancing the integrity of naval charts to analyzing data for routine and ad hoc requests. They will also have opportunities to develop documentation and implement customer data requests, including data validation, processing, and archival.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and enhance the integrity of naval charts
- Process and conduct quality control on incoming data; provide technical user support, verify and fulfill data requests, and access requests for end users
- Analyze data for routine and ad hoc requests; troubleshoot and solve development issues as needed
- Develop documentation and implement customer data requests, including data validation, processing, and archival
- Engage with a diverse team, including software developers, network administrators, cartographers, data analysts, implementation engineers, and management
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Cartography, Computer Science, Geology, Geography, Geomatics, GIS, Physical Science, Urban and Regional Planning, or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of related experience and a strong programming background
- Knowledge of the Topographic Features Data Management System (TFDM) and associated data services, workflows, and data management processes
- Use of PC software, including word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel), and presentation applications (Microsoft PowerPoint)
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $105,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, you will have opportunities for professional growth and development, as well as the chance to work on exciting projects that make a real impact. We also offer occasional travel opportunities (~10 days per year).
