Job Title: Senior Staff Software Quality Engineer

At ServiceNow, we're transforming the way organizations work. As a Senior Staff Software Quality Engineer on our AI Search team, you'll play a critical role in developing and deploying our search engine, ensuring high-quality software for our customers and internal developers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and oversee test strategies for all layers of the Search platform, focusing on UX, middle layer, backend, and AI/ML capabilities.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, developing processes and mentoring junior members to drive quality and scalability.
  • Plan and evaluate the quality of retrieval pipelines, design and build automation test frameworks, and maintain existing automation test frameworks.
  • Collect and report quality metrics from test execution, working with developers to design specific testing strategies for features being developed and automate them.
  • Create comprehensive test plans, execute and automate them, and support engineering organizations in troubleshooting or addressing issues with applications and dev/test environments.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of professional experience in quality assurance or application development.
  • Advanced knowledge of Software Quality Engineering processes and best practices.
  • Experience leading quality efforts within a scrum team of 10+ QE engineers.
  • Ability to diagnose issues, come up with a strategy for relief, permanent fix, and RCA, and implement it.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Dev. Platforms, Web Dev, Frameworks, and service-oriented architecture.
  • Ability to implement best practices and coding standards on role-specific requirements.
  • Knowledge of open-source or commercial search technology, such as Lucene, Solr, ElasticSearch, or Attivio, is preferred.
  • Fluency with Java and/or Python, scripting in JavaScript, and experience with Jenkins pipeline (Groovy) is a plus.
  • Experience testing AI/ML/Relevancy and experience with Language Models/Generative AI is a plus.
  • Experience writing test automation using Selenium and experience with Performance and scalability testing using Jmeter, Web performance tests is a plus.
  • Experience with different testing techniques, such as performance, unit, integration, automated, and ability to use them to best effect.
  • Expert working knowledge and ability to use tools, such as IDE, debugger, build tools, source control, ServiceNow instances, profilers, system administration/Unix tools, to assist with daily tasks.
  • Experience driving cross-team technical discussions with an understanding of SDLC concepts.

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $140,000 - $245,200, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation, and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure.
