Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Operator to join our team at Bayport Polymers, LLC. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our chemical plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Control: Monitor and control the process unit while manufacturing is ongoing, ensuring that all operating parameters are within established limits.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, including minor mechanical repairs and troubleshooting of operational problems.
  • Quality Assurance: Take samples to the laboratory for quality assurance of the finish product and ensure that all products meet established quality standards.
  • Safety and Environmental: Perform weekly and monthly checklists of fixed safety equipment and environmental equipment, and locate and correct any noticeable odors, leaks, or visible emissions.
  • Communication: Facilitate open communication between inside and outside operating personnel and advise supervision of any abnormalities.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, and completion of one (1) certification exam successfully prior to promotion to this role or obtain certification within 8 months of being placed in this role.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a chemical plant operator or in an industrial setting.
  • Skills: Math skills, written and verbal skills, ability to follow standard operating procedures and processes, and demonstrated ability to multi-task.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Process Operating Technology Certificate or Degree: Possession of a Process Operating Technology Certificate or Degree, or 4+ years of experience as a plant operator in the Petrochemical or polymers industry experience.
Physical Capacity Requirements
  • Lifting and Carrying: Lift and carry 60 pounds to shoulder and carry up to 300 feet.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Push and pull 55 pounds of force for 20 feet.
  • Grip Strength: Grip using 100 pounds of pressure.
  • Climbing: Climb 50 feet of a caged ladder and stairs.
  • Walking: Walk 1⁄2 a mile per job.
  • Standing: Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Kneeling, Crouching, and Twisting: Kneel, crawl, squat, twist, and turn.
  • Wearing PPE: Wear mandatory FRC and PPE (foot, head, ear, eye, and hand protection) when inside plant environment, or where directed by signage.
