Job Title: Veterinary Animal Care Specialist

SciTech Services, Inc. is seeking a Veterinary Animal Care Specialist to ensure the health and well-being of various research animals.

The successful candidate will maintain the health and condition of research animals by performing daily animal health checks and collecting research data.

Duties include:

  • Experience caring for various animal species, including non-human primates, rodents, rabbits, swine, ferrets, and guinea pigs.
  • Performing daily and weekly health checks of all laboratory animals.
  • Conducting quality assurance checks and implementing existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Collecting and recording animal physiological data and conditions.
  • Preparing and distributing individualized diets, nutrition, and clinical treatments.
  • Maintaining medical records and treatment plans based on veterinary directions.
  • Assisting with setup of basic surgical instruments, operating room procedures, and providing surgical support.
  • Performing veterinary technical procedures, such as injections, blood collection, catheterization, intubation, euthanasia, and basic first aid care.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing procedure areas, operating rooms, and prep areas.
  • Maintaining and stocking medical and pharmaceutical supply inventory.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education required.
  • One year experience in research animal veterinary technician care.
  • Qualify for LAT certification within 6 months of accepting the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work weekend and holiday rotation.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift, pull, and push equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
