Job Title: HIM Inpatient Coder

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented HIM Inpatient Coder to join our team at The Chickasaw Nation Medical Center. As a key member of our HIM Inpatient Services Team, you will be responsible for assigning accurate and compliant ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to inpatient, observation, and day surgery accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately code and sequence medical record information with an error rate not exceeding 5%
  • Abstract medical record information with an error rate not exceeding 5%
  • Ensure maximum reimbursement while maintaining compliance with coding guidelines, rules, and regulations
  • Identify unbilled accounts through regular review of the unbilled report
  • Assist medical staff with coding and DRG assignment questions and provide information as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on coding and billing guidelines
Requirements:
  • 1 year of directly related experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Assistant (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification
Working Conditions:
  • Works in an office setting
  • Sits up to 100% of shift
  • Walks up to 25% of shift
  • Frequently lifts and carries up to 10 lbs
  • Sometimes lifts and carries up to 25 lbs
