Job Overview

SUMMARY:

The primary role of the Electrical & Instrumentation Technician is to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate electrical and instrumentation systems throughout the facility, ensuring operations are conducted safely and professionally.

SAFETY:

Adhere to all safety protocols:

  • Stay current with safety training requirements.
  • Utilize all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Comprehend Lock Out Tag Out procedures for designated areas.
  • Execute tasks in compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • Complete General Plant Safety Training within the initial weeks of employment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following outlines the essential duties associated with the E&I Technician position:

  • Diagnose and maintain facility equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Conduct electrical preventive maintenance and repairs in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Interpret and utilize documentation such as P&IDs, loop sheets, and motor schematics.
  • Access and analyze PLC/DCS control logic to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently.
  • Initiate and complete work orders while documenting all relevant information as required.
  • Be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime as needed.
  • Respond to emergency repair situations during off-hours.
  • Proactively identify and address opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform less skilled tasks when necessary.
  • Complete all required training programs within specified timeframes.
  • Utilize basic and precision measuring tools for maintenance tasks.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS:

Consistently follow safety protocols, identify hazards, and report them immediately. Understand and apply lock out/tag out procedures, safety rules, and maintenance instructions.

COMMUNICATION:

Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, ensuring clarity whether using intercom systems, radios, or face-to-face interactions.

PROBLEM SOLVING:

Anticipate and identify potential issues, taking appropriate action with guidance. Troubleshoot equipment and diagnose problems effectively.

OPERATIONAL SKILLS:

Operate various equipment, including industrial forklifts and other mobile machinery.

CERTIFICATIONS:

Possess any licenses required by relevant regulatory agencies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be capable of lifting at least 50 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 75 lbs. Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including dusty and noisy environments.
