About the Role:

The City of Alabaster is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Magistrate to join our Municipal Court team. As a Magistrate, you will play a critical role in upholding the law and ensuring justice is served in our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exercise authority as assigned by law to issue warrants, accept pleas, receive and record fines, and provide clerical support to the court.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to citizens, relaying information and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment and discretion in all aspects of the role.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and the public to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED with one year of related administrative experience.
  • Certification as a National Crime Information Center computer operator.
  • Certification as a Municipal Court Magistrate.
  • Eligibility to be certified as a Notary Public.
  • Valid Alabama driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
  • Experience with organization and record-keeping, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and database systems.
