Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Technician IV plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a psychiatric treatment environment. This position assists and performs basic patient care duties, reporting and documenting results, and directly reports to the RN.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver direct patient care as assigned by the nurse, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation of vital signs and specimens.
  2. Maintain a therapeutic milieu by engaging patients in groups and reporting patient participation and needs to the nurses and interdisciplinary treatment team.
  3. Assist with admission, dismissal, and transfer of patients, securing valuables according to policy and procedures.
  4. Support patients in activities of daily living, engage with patients utilizing individual's coping/treatment plan, and provide assistance in non-aggressive crisis management.
  5. Maintain patient safety by utilizing non-aggressive patient management and environmental rounds.
  6. Escort patients within the facility, to other departments, and to outside activities, transporting patients in a van as needed.
  7. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times on or off premises.
  8. Complete hand-off communication with nurses and other staff when coming on and off the unit to ensure patient safety and monitoring.
  9. Maintain close observation as ordered by the physician and documentation completed according to departmental policy and procedures.
Requirements
  • Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management, obtained during orientation and maintained throughout employment.
  • Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, maintained throughout employment.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
