Job Summary

UTMB Health is seeking a skilled Vocational Nurse to provide direct nursing care to patients in a correctional setting. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care given to assigned patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including administering medications and treatments, and performing procedures as needed.
  • Participate in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care given to patients.
  • Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures, and maintain accurate records.
  • Deliver nursing interventions to assigned patients, consistent with the state medical plan of care.
  • Notify appropriate nursing and medical staff of changes in patient status, and recognize patient care priorities, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and potential patient care crises.
  • Follow physician's orders, and maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
Requirements
  • High school or equivalent, and graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program.
  • Current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Current BLS-HP required.
