Under supervision, the incumbent will engage in technical tasks related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of Geographic Information System (GIS) layers and databases. Responsibilities include conducting GIS analyses, maintaining municipal maps, and performing related duties as necessary.

This position involves performing routine technical duties associated with Geographic Information Systems. Employees are expected to possess adequate knowledge to address a variety of standard GIS requests. The work is structured and follows established guidelines. Initial tasks will be assigned with comprehensive instructions, and after training, employees are anticipated to carry out their responsibilities with minimal oversight. Work will be reviewed periodically during execution and upon completion.

1. Establish and maintain foundational GIS base map layers.
2. Prepare exhibit and location maps for various departments.
3. Research property ownership and legal descriptions.
4. Conduct fieldwork utilizing Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and mobile technology.
5. Operate computer systems to research, input, and modify routine data or create graphic representations.
6. Perform additional related tasks as required.

Licensure Requirement
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.

Education and Experience
- Education: Completion of two years (60 semester units) of college-level coursework in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Computer Science, Geography, Engineering, Land Use, Surveying, or a closely related field.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in GIS operations.

Work is primarily sedentary and conducted in an office setting. Good color perception is necessary, and occasional travel may be required.
