We are seeking a dedicated and experienced school leader to join our team as a Principal/School Leader at the Alma Advisory Group. This is an exciting opportunity to lead one of our schools in the vibrant city of Wilmington, Delaware.
Job OverviewThis is a 12-month position with a competitive salary ranging from $130,000 to $150,000, commensurate with prior experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, up to a $15,000 stipend will be provided by the Wilmington Learning Collaborative upon successful completion of one year in the role.

About the RoleThe ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a diverse, urban setting, preferably in a mid-sized metropolitan school district or state education agency. A minimum of 5 years of school administrative experience, with principal experience preferred, is also required. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment, school operations, and multi-lingual and differently abled learner education.
Responsibilities- Setting and Implementing Vision and Academic Strategy:
- Serve as the public face of the school in the Wilmington community;
- Collaborate with the Executive Director of the WLC to develop a Site-based Community Council;
- Build and promote the school within the Wilmington community as evidenced by parent involvement, community partnerships, and programming;
- Develop and update key internal and external communications, presentations, fact sheets, and messages - in various multimedia formats - to highlight the exemplary work and achievements.
- Building Systems and Support for Accountability and Transparency:
- Establish performance management processes for evaluating the effectiveness of programs, school safety, and operational efficiency;
- Create proactive systems that garner feedback from parents, educators, and students to inform school progress, performance, and safety;
- Assess the efficacy and effectiveness of the academic programs through coaching conversations, regular observations, and classroom walk-throughs.
- Effectively Managing, Developing and Supporting Educators:
- Recruit, select, and staff the schools with highly effective teachers and support staff in collaboration with CSD and the WLC;
- Actively coach and develop staff to be effective in their roles and in their support of students, including full participation in the Delaware Teacher Growth and Support System (DTGSS).
- A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a diverse, urban setting is required;
- A minimum of 5 years of school administrative experience, principal experience preferred;
- Advanced degree in education with a concentration in one or more areas of specialization;
- Deep knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, school operations, and multi-lingual and differently abled learner education;
- A clear and proven track record of improving academic outcomes at historically underserved schools;
- Ability to navigate uncertainty and ambiguity in times of tremendous change;
- Eligibility for State of Delaware Certification as a Principal.
