Position Overview:
The Custodial Services Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of St. Mark's Episcopal School and Church. This full-time, year-round position is essential for ensuring that all facilities are well-kept and operational.
Work Schedule:
This is a non-exempt role reporting to the Facilities Manager, with working hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, including a 30-minute lunch break.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct daily inspections of all restrooms and classrooms to ensure cleanliness and adequate supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc.).
2. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout all facilities, ensuring they are neat and orderly.
3. Collaborate with Primary and Lower School staff to verify supply levels before the start of each school day.
4. Execute various housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and polishing surfaces.
5. Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and notify the Facilities Manager when stock is low.
6. Respond promptly to requests for cleaning up spills or accidents.
7. Regularly spot clean carpets according to a set schedule.
8. Clean light fixtures and report any damaged ceiling tiles.
9. Maintain cleanliness in elevators, hallways, and common areas, scrubbing walls and doors as necessary.
10. Collect and care for lost and found items.
11. Empty trash bins as required throughout the day.
12. Assist with post-lunch clean-up in the cafeteria.
13. Help set up and restore tables and chairs for events.
14. Keep outdoor areas tidy using appropriate cleaning tools.
15. Be available for occasional weekend, holiday, and overtime work as needed.
Required Skills and Attributes:
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage tasks independently.
- Positive demeanor and willingness to engage with all community members.
- Effective communication skills to interact with staff, students, and guests.
- Ability to remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in understanding instructions in both English and Spanish is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to move around the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders.
- Capability to stand and push a supply cart throughout the day.
- Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing over 50 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
