PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Upholds established departmental protocols, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance standards, ensuring safety compliance.
2. Prepares necessary documentation as mandated by the profession and department, including evaluation outcomes, personalized treatment plans, progress reports, and other relevant documentation.
3. Conducts radiographic imaging procedures with precision.
4. Regularly inspects equipment, supplies, and accessories to ensure readiness.
5. Evaluates images for technical quality, ensuring high standards are met.
6. Maintains X-ray and associated equipment in optimal working condition; promptly informs supervisor of significant malfunctions.
7. Ensures cleanliness and organization of workspaces.
8. Assists in transporting patients to the imaging room; prepares and maintains the examination area.
9. Orders and requests supplies as needed to maintain adequate inventory.
10. Promotes professional development through participation in educational initiatives, current literature review, in-service training, and workshops.
11. Attends required departmental meetings.
12. Performs additional related tasks as assigned or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Graduate of an AMA accredited Radiologic Technology program.
LICENSE: Not applicable.
CREDENTIALS: Must be registered or eligible for registration with the ARRT.
EXPERIENCE: New graduates from an accredited program are welcome.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
PATIENT INTERACTION: Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Daily exposure to X-ray radiation is expected.
Exposure to developer and fixer fumes during mixing is also anticipated.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION: Proficient in using portable X-ray units and Radiographic/Fluoroscopic equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
STANDING: Majority of the shift involves standing.
WALKING: Significant time spent walking is required.
LIFTING: Must utilize proper body mechanics to independently lift or assist in transferring patients of varying weights.
VISUAL ABILITY: Must be capable of reading physician orders and observing patients; skilled in evaluating exposed radiographs; able to read patient identification bands.
HEARING: Must be able to comprehend telephone communications and engage in normal conversations with patients.
SPEAKING: Clear verbal communication is essential for interactions with nursing staff, physicians, other healthcare professionals, colleagues, patients, and their families.
