Job Title: Laboratory Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Christus Health. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to work in a dynamic laboratory environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, testing, and result calculation.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment, ensuring proper function and accuracy.
  • Cross-train to other laboratory sections as needed to ensure efficiency and productivity.
  • Adhere to quality control protocols and procedures to ensure accurate results.
  • Utilize the Laboratory Information System to record and report results.
  • Provide critical laboratory value notifications and documentation.
  • Process patient specimens, handling and distributing them safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new or updated testing procedures and protocols.
  • Demonstrate competence in performing assigned patient care responsibilities, adapting methods to meet unique needs.
  • Adhere to CORE values and complete required compliance tasks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • One year of approved clinical laboratory experience, with rotation through Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids.
  • Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS.
  • Louisiana state licensure.

Compensation:

The estimated annual salary for this position is $60,000.
