About the RoleThis position involves performing a wide range of peace officer duties, including protecting life and property, enforcing laws and ordinances, investigating crimes, and providing information and assistance to the public. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, directing traffic, and making arrests when necessary.
Responsibilities- Patrol assigned areas to ensure the security of life and property and deter crime by providing high visibility.
- Respond to and investigate unusual or suspicious activities, and respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Direct traffic and investigate traffic accidents.
- Enforce state, local, and federal laws and ordinances, issue verbal warnings and citations to violators, and analyze facts, clues, and evidence to determine law violators.
- Make arrests, serve subpoenas and warrants, transport prisoners, and interview suspects.
- Prepare evidence and appear in court to give testimony.
- Search for stolen property and missing persons.
- Give information to the public regarding laws, ordinances, traffic safety, directions, and available public services.
- Operate computers, radios, and other communication equipment.
- Carry and use a firearm and other appropriate defensive weaponry.
- Protect the life, property, public order, and constitutional rights of all citizens.
- Adhere to the California Peace Officers Standards and Training Law Enforcement Code of Ethics.
- Investigate juvenile and designated adult criminal activity and incidents as assigned.
- Be a United States Citizen (or resident alien with application for citizenship in progress).
- Be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment.
- Possess a valid California driver's license (at time of appointment) and a good driving record.
- Must be able to obtain required P.O.S.T. certification and maintain firearms qualification.
- Have normal color vision.
- Have vision of not less than 20/30 (corrected in each eye).
- Possess satisfactory hearing capabilities.
- Be free of disabling physical conditions or diseases that interfere with police work.
- Be emotionally stable and mature.
The estimated salary for this position is $83,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
