Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital's 6 Medical Unit is a 39-bed unit that provides exceptional care for adult patients requiring medical, surgical, and telemetry nursing care. Our unit is renowned for its expertise in treating stroke patients, and we take pride in our commitment to delivering safe, quality care to our patients.
Our Unique Approach to Nursing CareWe are dedicated to putting our patients first and providing a supportive environment for our nursing staff to grow and develop their skills. Our nursing unit is unique in that it is the only unit at South Pointe with a specialty accreditation by The Joint Commission, and we have received the commission's Primary Stroke Center designation each year since 2012.
Our Residency Program: A Year-Long Journey of Growth and DevelopmentAs a Registered Nurse (RN) Resident, you will participate in a year-long customized residency program that is tailored to your individual learning needs. You will be paired with a coach who will mentor and guide your progress through the program, helping you to develop the skills and confidence you need to excel in your role.
What to Expect from Our Residency Program- A dedicated success coach available 24/7 to support you throughout your residency journey.
- Weekly check-ins to ensure that you are meeting your personal and professional goals.
- Personal assessments to identify areas for growth and development.
- 10 to 12 weeks of orientation, plus 10 residency days throughout the first year.

ResponsibilitiesAs a Registered Nurse (RN) Resident, you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients, alongside a coach, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. You will establish and/or revise priorities for patient care activities based on the acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability.
Education and CertificationsWe require a graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing, with a BSN preferred. You must also possess current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you are working in a Critical Care area, you must also have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) Certification.
Physical RequirementsThis role requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. You must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and have corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
