Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of this role is to act as the main liaison for patients and healthcare personnel, ensuring top-notch customer service and patient care.

Key responsibilities include quality evaluation, care coordination, patient registration, physician referrals, general administrative support, and enhancing patient satisfaction.

Required Qualifications:
1. High school diploma
2. Current LPN license issued by the Board of Nursing
3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory
4. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is preferred
5. A minimum of 2 years of experience as an LPN or 1 year in a cardiology-focused role.

Core Responsibilities:
1. Manage a high volume of calls related to specific medical inquiries.

Patient Triage and Emergency Assessment:
Accurately document patient complaints in both paper and electronic medical records. Relay any concerns or issues regarding patients to the healthcare provider. Assist in coding and risk management by ensuring thorough and precise documentation.

Develop and maintain comprehensive electronic records, including patient medication lists, allergies, clinical notes, and detailed documentation of phone interactions within the electronic medical record (EMR).

Send electronic communications to other departments to facilitate patient flow and record patient wait times.
3.

Respond to Incoming Calls:
Address inquiries such as pharmacy refills, patient questions, and communications from home health agencies.
4. Provide education to patients and their families as necessary.
5. Schedule appointments, manage eRefills, and perform various administrative tasks.
6.

Execute additional related responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the overall mission and objectives of the Cardiovascular Institute of the South while adhering to its patient care philosophy.


Performance Standards:
1. Maintain a tidy and organized workspace, promptly reporting any safety concerns to the team leader.
2. Work efficiently and manage time effectively, assisting colleagues when all personal tasks are completed.
3. Communicate any challenges or concerns regarding job responsibilities to the team leader.
4. Execute all duties with minimal errors and meet all deadlines for task completion.
5. Represent the Cardiovascular Institute of the South in a professional manner at all times.

Demonstrate effective communication skills with physicians, staff, and patients, ensuring professional interactions at all times.

6. Foster a collaborative environment with fellow employees to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

While perfect relationships may not always be achievable, complaints regarding the employee should be infrequent.

Work cooperatively with all team members to ensure optimal patient care and to meet the standards set by the medical staff.

8. Adhere to the Compliance Plan of the Cardiovascular Institute of the South as it relates to the outlined responsibilities.

Make every effort to maintain compliance by following the Corporate Compliance Plan, participating in compliance training, adhering to medical documentation standards, and addressing compliance concerns.

9. Ensure accurate and thorough documentation in the patient's medical record as required, including both paper and electronic formats.
10. Collaborate with EMR staff to uphold quality standards and contribute to future EMR enhancements.
11. Uphold patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
