We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc. in Thornton, IL.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule and supervise maintenance teams to ensure equipment meets production requirements.
- Oversee maintenance work performed by internal teams and external contractors to ensure timely and quality completion.
- Manage urgent or breakdown jobs to minimize downtime and maintain equipment availability.
- Develop and motivate direct reports, providing technical assistance to maintenance personnel as needed.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to develop work schedules, equipment usage, and procedures to meet plant goals.
- Prepare estimates for project costs and plant budgets, monitoring material and labor usage to meet productivity and budgetary goals.
- Maintain accurate records of time, work orders, materials, equipment, and other mechanical shop data.
- Determine employee training needs, evaluating skills, safety practices, and behavior to ensure employees possess necessary skills to perform their jobs.
- Plan staff schedules, assigning work and overtime as required to meet maintenance needs.
- Participate in plant projects, providing input on mechanical aspects to ensure tasks are completed in a quality, cost-effective, and timely manner.
- Ensure adherence to plant rules, policies, and health and safety protocols during maintenance activities.
- Provide ongoing maintenance support to the plant, participating in the on-call program and evaluating maintenance incidents after hours and on weekends.
- Ensure maintenance tools and equipment are in good working condition, with adequate stocks of consumables maintained to support scheduled maintenance activities.
- Comply with all Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements.
- 5 years of mechanical repair and maintenance experience.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Prior experience working with heavy industrial machinery and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead others with or without direct authority.
- Knowledge or understanding of SAP preferred.
- Working knowledge and technical competency in the cement manufacturing process.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of MSHA regulations and guidelines.
- Motivation, ability, and willingness to participate in the plant on-call schedule.
