About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc. in Thornton, IL.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and supervise maintenance teams to ensure equipment meets production requirements.
  • Oversee maintenance work performed by internal teams and external contractors to ensure timely and quality completion.
  • Manage urgent or breakdown jobs to minimize downtime and maintain equipment availability.
  • Develop and motivate direct reports, providing technical assistance to maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to develop work schedules, equipment usage, and procedures to meet plant goals.
  • Prepare estimates for project costs and plant budgets, monitoring material and labor usage to meet productivity and budgetary goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of time, work orders, materials, equipment, and other mechanical shop data.
  • Determine employee training needs, evaluating skills, safety practices, and behavior to ensure employees possess necessary skills to perform their jobs.
  • Plan staff schedules, assigning work and overtime as required to meet maintenance needs.
  • Participate in plant projects, providing input on mechanical aspects to ensure tasks are completed in a quality, cost-effective, and timely manner.
  • Ensure adherence to plant rules, policies, and health and safety protocols during maintenance activities.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance support to the plant, participating in the on-call program and evaluating maintenance incidents after hours and on weekends.
  • Ensure maintenance tools and equipment are in good working condition, with adequate stocks of consumables maintained to support scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Comply with all Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • 5 years of mechanical repair and maintenance experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prior experience working with heavy industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others with or without direct authority.
  • Knowledge or understanding of SAP preferred.
  • Working knowledge and technical competency in the cement manufacturing process.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MSHA regulations and guidelines.
  • Motivation, ability, and willingness to participate in the plant on-call schedule.
