Position Overview

The Exercise Physiologist will operate under the guidance of the Cardiopulmonary Director(s) and will be tasked with overseeing stress testing activities within the Cardiology Department. This role also includes the supervision of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs as required by staffing needs.

The Exercise Physiologist is expected to perform various responsibilities as delegated by the director(s), adhering to the scope of practice for this position. Key duties include assisting in stress testing procedures that necessitate RN supervision and managing Holter monitor processes.

Essential skills include the ability to competently conduct treadmill exercise stress tests, nuclear stress testing, and exercise stress echocardiograms with minimal physician oversight, in line with established policies and procedures. Additionally, the Exercise Physiologist must be capable of independently evaluating and supervising patients during their exercise sessions in both Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, while also completing necessary office workflows and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate critical results to the appropriate medical professionals.
  • Conduct stress testing and rehabilitation sessions in compliance with established protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or a related discipline - Required
  • ACSM-CEP (American College of Sports Medicine Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist) - Required
  • Experience in Stress Lab Testing - Required
  • Familiarity with isokinetic testing, evaluations, and functional capacity assessments - Preferred
  • Experience with inpatient and outpatient stress testing, Holter and event monitor setups, EKGs, and Holter monitor analysis - Preferred

Profile Requirements:

  • Documented Work History
  • Current Skills Checklist relevant to the specialty
  • Two Supervisory Reference Forms from the last two years
  • Licensure (MI LARA) & Certifications (BLS - AHA)
  • Permanent Address (local candidates within a 50-mile radius will not be considered)

Certification Requirements:

  • ACLS (AHA)
  • BLS (AHA)

Work Schedule:

This position includes a weekend rotation with staff for Saturdays and Sundays, along with a day off during the week preceding and following the weekend.

On-Call Requirements:

No on-call duties are required for this position.
