RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Respiratory Therapist to join our team at the New Brunswick campus. As a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to pediatric patients in our transport and critical care settings.
Responsibilities:- Administer aerosol medication, Chest PT, and related therapies to pediatric patients as ordered by physicians or approved protocols.
- Perform rounds on all assigned patients to deliver appropriate care and assess patient status using laboratory and radiology results, vital signs, and other assessments.
- Evaluate therapy orders for completeness, appropriateness, quality, and effectiveness using Evidence-Based Practice Guidelines and recommend changes in the care plan based on assessments and guidelines.
- Correctly complete all patient records and documentation according to Department policy, including patient assessment, plan of care, E-MAR, patient education, and performance improvement fields.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of Oxygen Therapy, BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannulas (HFNC) for use in pediatric patient populations.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation in pediatric patient populations.
- Comply with all Department, Infection Prevention, and Safety policies and procedures.
- Determine priorities and organize work and time to meet them, demonstrating the ability to function in a diverse workforce and interact tactfully, constructively, and diplomatically with others.
- Perform emergency airway care procedures and maintain patient ventilation during emergent situations, as ordered and if certified.
- Current and active license as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of NJ.
- ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
- 3-5 years of Pediatric/Neonatal Critical Care Respiratory Experience.
- Pediatric Transport Experience Preferred.
