About the Role

At ESPO Corporation, we are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Distribution Systems Specialist to join our team in Walnut Creek, CA. This is a contract-hybrid position offering 3 days in the office and 2 days at home, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time employment based on performance.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Electrical Distribution Systems Specialist to support our clients' distribution network by providing technical expertise in SCADA systems. The selected candidate will be responsible for responding to emergency requests from operations, working with field technicians, automation engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful testing and release of devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Device Building and Mapping: Construct and map various analog, status, calc, virtual, amp, analog points, history, settings, and controls for RT SCADA systems.
  • Problem Resolution: Resolve limited-scope problems within SCADA procedural guidelines in support of new device installation, upgrades, and replacements.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: Work with field technicians, automation engineers, communication technicians, ADMS SCADA Specialists, project managers, program managers, and SCADA Managers to ensure successful testing and release of devices.
  • Training and Professional Development: Participate in training programs to enhance knowledge of client-specific systems and stay up-to-date with industry developments.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program and relevant distribution engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution power flow, overhead and underground construction methods, and distribution system equipment.
  • Experience working with RT SCADA-Supervisory Control, or related systems, including RTUs, Line-Reclosers, Capacitor Banks, Fusesavers, Pad Mounted Interrupters, Switches, Circuit Breakers, Transformer Banks, Relays, etc.
  • Familiarity with various communication paths, such as Digi or radio, TCP End Paths, serial/ethernet technology, DNP3 protocols, etc.
  • Knowledge of circuit map change sheets, points lists, site surveys, and other technical documentation necessary for device testing and commissioning.
