We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Resource Nurse to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a Clinical Resource Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing clinical expertise to our pediatric hematology/oncology team.
Key Responsibilities:- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care for patients with complex hematology/oncology needs.
- Provide clinical expertise to defined areas of the Children's Hospital, including pediatric hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant.
- Communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide coordinated care to patients during unit huddles and multidisciplinary rounds.
- Maintain a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, and participating in team problem-solving.
- Support the unit charge RN as needed, assisting with throughput, acting as an ADT nurse, and escalating discharge barriers.
- Offer support to unit RNs with challenging assignments, procedures, and/or active changes in a patient's condition.
- Assist in verifying oncology/BMT treatment plans and chemotherapy orders, and support off-unit patients requiring oncology/palliative expertise.
- Audit compliance for regulatory standards and reporting structures, collect and document data from unit-specific Quality Measures, and participate in role-specific performance improvement and data collection.
- Provide new and updated education on chemotherapy/biotherapy, treatment plans, new initiatives, and case studies, identifying gaps in practice and providing education as needed.
- Assist with planning and coordinating orientation for new staff and skill validations, and coach and encourage eligible RNs to achieve certification and clinical ladder status.
- Serve as a role model and leader to other nurses in the organization, maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending internal educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in committee/council activities.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, current registered nurse license in the State of New Jersey.
- Minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing in pediatric hematology/oncology/BMT.
- Proficiency in pediatric hematology/oncology/bone marrow transplant critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional verbal and non-verbal, written and listening skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences and function in a collaborative role.
- Organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple complex situations simultaneously.
- Computer proficiency in Google applications.
- Professional certification in CPON, CPHON, BMTCN.
