Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, day shift, with no night shifts, weekends, holidays, or on-call duties.
Work Environment: Outpatient Surgery Center specializing in Orthopedics, Total Joint Replacement, General Surgery, Plastics, ENT, Pain Management, and Podiatry.

Position Overview:
The Certified Surgical Technician plays a vital role in the surgical team, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia staff, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel to provide exceptional patient care throughout the surgical process.

Essential Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Technical Diploma from an accredited Surgical Technology Program, certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, and a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Strong communication skills, critical thinking abilities, attention to detail, and customer service aptitude are essential. Basic computer proficiency and the ability to manage emergency situations effectively are also required.

Preferred Qualifications: 2-3 years of experience in a Surgical Technologist role, with at least 1 year of hospital experience and 1 year in Orthopedics.

Our Surgery Center is dedicated to providing same-day outpatient surgical services across various specialties. Our skilled surgeons cater to both adult and pediatric patients, ensuring high-quality care tailored to community needs. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the RN to deliver safe, therapeutic, and age-appropriate care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary health team to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures and the role of the scrub technician.
  • Prepare and assemble necessary supplies, equipment, and instruments for scheduled surgeries based on physician preferences.
  • Participate in safety training and adhere to safety protocols and job-related hazard guidelines.
  • Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment as directed.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available in the operating room during procedures.
  • Regularly update instrument cards and preference lists.
  • Adhere to exposure control plans regarding bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
  • Report any breaches in sterile technique according to established policies.
  • Foster a respectful and professional environment for patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate effectively within the surgical team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
