Forestry Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Forestry Specialist to join our team at the State of Florida. As a key member of our forestry team, you will provide technical assistance to rural private forest landowners to achieve their goals, including timber revenue, sustained yield, ecological management, and wildlife management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert advice on timber marking and forest management practices.
• Develop and implement forest management plans to meet the needs of landowners.
• Collaborate with landowners, foresters, and other stakeholders to achieve forest management goals.
• Conduct site visits to assess forest conditions and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest forestry research and technologies to ensure best practices are implemented.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Forestry or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in forestry management or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of forest ecology, silviculture, and forest management practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
